Take Care of Me

I miss being taken cared of. Normally, in times of great illness, I remember my mother on panic mode trying to make sure I am feeling better. Honestly, it may sound weird, but I like it when she panics. It assures me that I am loved. It assures me that she will do everything in her capacity to make me feel better - take away the pain if she has to.

When I was 16 and started becoming independent, that was when I realized I have to take care of myself. I still do.

Maybe I am just being nostalgic. Maybe I am just being mushy. But I'd rather be with my mother now on panic mode.

And so, I woke up today with excruciating pain and extreme itch. I almost screamed because I can't believe what I am seeing in the mirror.

On my way to the office yesterday, I noticed a blister on my left elbow. I dismissed it as nothing, well, it's just a small blister. Halfway across the day, another blister popped out on my right elbow followed by another (which I accidentally squished) on my chest because I didn't see it anyway. Then it hit me..... could I have chicken pox?

I had to ask the opinions of co-workers over the matter and they concluded it MIGHT be chicken pox. But of course, who could give expert opinion other than my best friend and another doctor friend whom I sent pictures of my blisters (now there's another in my tummy and two more in my chest) via BBM. Both of them confirmed I have chicken pox. Oh my effing gawd! I can't have chicken pox! 

I had to warn co-workers by changing my status in YM. Another friend, who saw my status, just had to set me on panic by saying that her co-worker has been absent from work for half a month now because of chicken pox. I figured.... I can NEVER NEVER NEVEEEEEEEER be gone for that long. That's madness! Who get's off of work that long?

As precautionary measure, I had to finish all tasks that might be affected, sent emails to my boss just in case I won't be able to report for work. For crying out loud, this fever is already killing me.

And as expected, I woke up looking like a cactus. It gets worse..... and it will get worse....

I know I don't show it much, but I really appreciate that you took the time and effort to court my mother, make kids and raise such kids to be good citizens.

A colleague's father died. For the first time, I don't know how to console someone. For the first time, I just stood there frozen, thinking what to do, what to do, what to do? I didn't know at first what it was about until he told me about it. As I saw tears dropping like rain from his eyes, all I could do was watch. I remembered my dad - flashes and bits of memories with him when I was a kid, the times he carried me to bed, the times we argued, and the last time I saw him where he prepared lunch for me.

It dawned on me, I wouldn't want to know about any person (close to me) and his demise through an obituary, a phone call or an SMS. I would want to be beside that person at any given time, in that given circumstance. Finally, I mustered the courage to give my colleague a pat on the back as he graciously thanked me.

I still feel bad for him. On my way to somewhere, inside the car, I was the one crying. I usually do, I'm not good at receiving bad news. I just had to compose myself because the driver might think I am such a crybaby.

I should go home and see my dad again soon.

I had to force myself to setup various alarms today to enable me to get up and jog. Success! I was able to make it around a portion of CCP several times, well about half an hour I guess. My most favorite part however is watching the sun rise to its magnificence. That never fails to make me smile.

In the afternoon, I just had to reward myself with a movie and food. There goes the jogging....

And so, I finally am concluding that BonChon chicken is not for me. For that price, I can order 6 large chicken breast with wings at Aveneto, have a feast and a headache due to the surge of cholesterol. Congratulations BonChon, you made it in my worst list.

I never realized how appealing the atmosphere is at Ayala Triangle Gardens. I mean common, nature at the heart of Makati? You've gotta be kidding me. But no, it's really a living breathing paradise (well I am always exaggerated) and I have grown to love it. I'll see more of it then.

I've always thought, if something isn't available for us, then it's not meant for us. Wrong! If something isn't available for you and you so badly want it, go get your but and do some searching till you find it. And don't involve God in this by saying HE doesn't want you to have it because it's not available for you. You have to remember sweetie, God helps those who help themselves. Binibigyan ka na nga ng opportunity para tingnan and decide ano ang gusto mo, gusto mo pa ihain na lang sayo? Echoserang froglet na to! Magtrabaho ka and work hard for it!

Tomorrow I'm turning on a new leaf. I'm reclaiming my 28 inch waistline. So help me God.

How do you define love? How do you define forever? And when you put those two concepts together, how do you make love last forever? You don't. You can only be grateful for the people who were part of your life's journey - the good ones, even the bad ones too, those who made you happy, and those who broke your heart.

Love is never defined by any relationship. You can be in love with anyone and the same person may love you back without making it official - and that's the beauty of it, pure, and unoverrated love.

Love is not bound by time - the frequency of how two people are together and how long they spend time together. Love exists in the simplest of good mornings and transpires beyond good nights and sweet dreams. It is uncontainable, it is beyond measure.

And when all things come to past, there will be two bonds that will last. Friendship is one, but the strongest will always be love.

A Kid's Paradise: Universal Studios Singapore

And now comes the fun part, the part where we get to really enjoy and be kids. Universal Studios Singapore, when it was opened had limited rides and attractions but nonetheless, it spelled fun fun fun! I hope to relive such fun moments and check out the added attractions next time.. or maybe soon.... I hope.

The images below do not even give justice to how spectacular the park is, but of course every kid who knows his cartoons would agree with me that it still lives up to the promise of a good time.

The Wild Side of Singapore

Typical zoo? Think again. If you plan on just strutting your way through the maze that is Singapore Zoo, you will miss on a lot of things. My advice, when you are told to start your trek, take it seriously, and on time. You will see a variety of animals (of course) and when you are exhausted, your eyes can guide you into available treats and guilty pleasures in the many restaurants and fast food chains located inside the zoo. Don't forget to check out the souvenir shops.

By night, feast your eyes on a different kind of adventure- The Night Safari! Oh don't get too cautious no one's gonna die! The treks are perfectly safe, guided, and appropriately lit to view the animals in their natural habitat at night. Don't fail to miss the presentations (of both humans and animals alike) but be careful.... something might be creeping under your chair.
